Customer Question

my horse gets a bleeding nose occasionally, this horse was sitting for longer periods of time, i got he about a month ago and I take her for trail rides almost everyday no less than an hour, its really hot here in the Nevada desert, could that be the reason why she bleeds because she was not use to be out this often?

Hi this is Dr Weaver, I am an experienced equine vet, I am sorry to hear about Sasha's nose bleeds. How long had the bleeding been going on and about how much blood do you see when it happens? Is it one nostril or both nostrils? Does it only occur during exercise? Do you notice any other mucoid nasal discharge (snot)? Any odor or smell coming from her nostrils?
