I have a colt that just came off a severe sand impaction. He was down thrashing alot during this and caused an absess in his front hoof which kept him lying down for a longer period of time. He now seems to have developed a problem with his hind quarters. When we do get him up, he brings his rear hooves up to his fronts and basically looks like he is rearing up to move forward. When he stands in one place, it looks like his hind end is trying to go out from under him. Do you have any idea what tmay be causing this and what can I do to get him well?
I am affraind he might have foundered .
his hind go under hi , like if he were rearing because he is trying to unload his front legs
you sould get your vet out to take some Xrays of the feet, and start treatment for laminitis (icing the feet, anti-inflammatories)
