Dr M : Icing her feet for the next several days would be the other thing to do
Dr M : Depending how severe the episode is and how much the coffin bone rotated within the hoof (X-rays needed to find out), there can be. A chance for complete recovery
Customer :

not happy with your ANSWER . she can run across pasture with the rest of the horses. ok like what chance are we talking about?

Customer :
Dr M :

Well it all depends on how severe the episode is. IF you are saying she can run with other horses, it sounds like a mild episode

Dr M :

should still recommend Xraying her feet to assess the degree of rotation of the coffin bone within the hoof wall.

Dr M :

So I would keep her feet iced if possible and try to get a veterinarian to take Xrays. HEr progression as far as stiffness and foot soreness in the next couple of weeks will give a good idea about her recovery.

Dr M :

I have horses in my practice that foundered and came back to be able to be grand prix jumpers, some stay painful, and are not able to be ridden.

Dr M :

every horse is different and the response to initial treatment and radiographs can help us predict what she will do
