my14 year old mare in showing a little stiffness in front leg. acts a little depress too. vet says she mite be trying to founder. have her in dry lot and giving her phenylbutazone. is there anything else i can do and will i be able to ride here ever?

Well it all depends on how severe the episode is. IF you are saying she can run with other horses, it sounds like a mild episode
should still recommend Xraying her feet to assess the degree of rotation of the coffin bone within the hoof wall.
So I would keep her feet iced if possible and try to get a veterinarian to take Xrays. HEr progression as far as stiffness and foot soreness in the next couple of weeks will give a good idea about her recovery.
I have horses in my practice that foundered and came back to be able to be grand prix jumpers, some stay painful, and are not able to be ridden.
every horse is different and the response to initial treatment and radiographs can help us predict what she will do
