My sorrell full blooded registered Arabian is getting spots

Customer Question

My sorrell full blooded registered Arabian is getting spots of white hairs on his body. He started with 3 on his rump 6 months ago and now has 18 from the rump to the shoulder on one side and is starting to get white spots on his other side. Is this a diet deficiency? He doesn't have gray or white horses in his bloodline.

Dr. Braha : Any Egyptian Arab blood lines? Any medications currenty being administered?
Dr. Braha : My suspicion is your horse is developing a condition called spotted Leucotrichia. The cause of the hair color change is not fully understood but poses no harm to the horse except in the form of cosmetic appearance. There is a chance the hair may change back to it's original color if the skin underneath has retained it's pigment. The pigment change Is not cause for concerns in regards XX X dietary concern.
Customer :

Yes, my horse is a full blooded Egyptian Arabian. Why?

Customer :

No meds either.

Dr. Braha : This condition is seen with an increased incidence in the egyptian Arab line
