Whats the best treatment for a horse with high fibrinogen

This answer was rated:

What's the best treatment for a horse with high fibrinogen?
A high fibrinogen level only tells you there is an inflammatory response going on inside the horse. The higher the value, the more severe the problem. It does not tell you what the underlying cause is. You find and treat the cause whether it be colic, infection, laminitis or trauma and the fibrinogen level should return to normal. The speed at which that occurs is an indicator of how well and fast the horse is healing. It is particularly useful after surgery to judge how well things are healing. Treating the underlying cause is how you treat the high fibrinogen level. That may require surgery, antibiotics, anti histamines or anti inflammatories.
