I tried to add some R134a air on a car to my Honda fit

Customer Question

I tried to add some R134a air on a car to my Honda fit because the air wasn't very cold anymore. Now there is a gases smell in the car. Why did this happen and what can I do to get rid of the smell when the air is on?

Hello my name is***** am an ASE Master Technician and I am glad to help you out with your question.

Expert:  Dan replied 2 months ago.

Your evaporator core is probably leaking Freon and the blower is blowing the smell into the cabin. This is probably the cause of the air not blowing very cold anymore as well.

This is the most common problem with what you are describing.
