My abs light and batery light came on at the same time
JA: Is it just the ABS light? Or is the brake system warning light on, too?
Customer: The abs light is on and the batery li ght are both on
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 97 honda accord ex
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have tested the battery it is at 12.19
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: But I am cleaning the terminals and noticed the belt is frayed

Is that the voltage when it's running?

Sorry for the delay. That's what I needed to know. The ABS light came on because the charging system voltage was too low. Same for the battery light. It looks like your alternator is bad. Sometimes if you hit the alternator with a solid object it will start working again. It's a easy way to confirm the alternator is bad. Have your volt meter connected and give it a smack with a hammer or solid object. It will sometimes make it start charging again. Normal voltage is 13.5-14.2 volts. I have included the instructions for both 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
