I have a 2008 Honda Pilot it sounds like a belt is slipping and the engine revs up on its own ,can you advise what the cause could be?

hi there,

im cam, a licenced diagnostic tech

this sounds like you might have a bad ac compressor.

when it first engages, it takes the engine a little more effort to first engage it, so it raises the rpm up and the belt can squeel.

see if you can unplug the ac compressor or disconnect the ac compressor relay and see if it continues.

if it stops, than the compressor is the culprit
