Customer Question

2009 honda pilot exl 4wd touring sedan with navig the book says that the back window button on the key fob should open and raise the fifth (hatch) door if it is a touring sedan. all other pilot models the book says it just UNLOCKS the back window. my fob only unlocks the back window instead of raising the hatch door. i took it to the dealer and the rep just looked at me with a flat face. he could not understand what i was talking about. i left because he was looking at my back pocket where my wallet rests. am i nuts? if not, any ideas on a fix? thanks in advance, Mike .

Hi Sir or Madam, welcome to Pearl.com. I'm acuramstr. there are so many different combinations these days on the pilot I can understand the confusion. Post back your vin # XXXXX I will look up the car and see if it has an auto hatch open feature installed .

Your pilot has a power tailgate according to the parts book. There should be a button in the driver door panel to open it and a button on the bottom of the door to close the door . Pressing and holding the tailgate button on the remote (with the doors unlocked in park) the tail gate should beep and open. If not it has a problem and will need repair. This system is a little complicated so if the dealer doesn't know it has one I doubt he can fix it .I would try to find another Honda dealer that is more experienced in these.
