I was driving my 2000 Honda Civic 4DR EX tonight and I heard a funny rubbing noise. At first I thought that I wasn't fully in gear (I drive a manual trans) but after checking realized I was. I then turned off the a/c because it wasn't cooling properly and the rubbing noise went away. Each time I turned the a/c the noise would continue. I got home and I heard a loud "clunk, clunk" and saw a disc come out from under my car. I think I lost the a/c compressor clutch disc. There are metal shavings on the edges. If I take this to the Honda dealer how much can I expect them to charge me to repair this?

Hi Sir or Madam, welcome to Pearl.com. I'm acuramstr.Unfortunately this is not an easy repair. The compressor has most likely failed and will need replacement. The parts are about $600.00 and labor will run around $450-550 depending on local labor rates. If you have an independent shop repair this you can expect to save some money over the dealer. Sorry for the bad news but this is never an inexpensive repair. If there is anything else I can help you with let me know.
