My first generation Honda FIT has a "stutter" when in cruise control.
Country: United StatesMake: HondaModel: FitYear: 2008 Already Tried: This is a friend's car that I was driving the other day. When at highway speeds, fairly often the car would kind of stutter as if misfiring perhaps. Thought it might have been poor gas and ran it dry and refilled. It was not bad gas.
Ok the most common issue is a sticking Egr valve which is covered under your emissions warranty or a transmission torque converter locking up . These need to be checked next. They can be easily diagnosed with the Honda HDS scanner hooked up. These are the next steps .Hoped this helped. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
That tells me how to throw money at the problem by using a dealer or repair shop's computer tools.. How do I diagnose the EGR to begin with?
You have a meter and scanner ? If not disconnect the connector at the Egr valve and see if the problem goes away if so the valve is bad .
So I can drive highway speeds in cruise control with the EGR disconnected? Or can I apply vacuum at the valve while it's parked?
You can drive with it disconnected.
And whereabouts is the EGR on this car located? Do you want me to disconnect a wire harness connector or a vacuum line?
This link will show you the location of the valve and that its a known issue with these vehicles to cause these issues. ClickHereHoped this helped. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
