Steve :

You are asking about the alternator/compressor belt tensioner correct?

Steve :

There are actually 3 bolts holding the tensioner assembly.

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

yes

Steve :

The picture I posted shows the 3 bolts.

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

ok the middle bolt looks like it needs a special tool on the pulley the bolt does not clear fire wall what can i do to get that bolt out instead of taking off tension arm

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

hellow

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

hello

Steve :

he one bolt should be an allen head socket. Taking the alternator off should give yu more room. You need to take the complete assembly off if you ar just replacing the pulley.

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

its a 98 accord looks like the center bolt not an allen i am talking bout the idler tension for the alternator so is there a special tool to take the center bolt off

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

is there any other way to take the pulley off or get that bolt to clear the firewall i just need that pulley off the pulley froze up

Steve :

The picture I posted is of a 98 Accord. the pulley will not come off the bracket while it is in the car.

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

so the best thing to do is take off the whole arm check the center bolt can u tell me if i need a special tool for that

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

dont look like an allen

Steve :

I think it is just a 6mm hex or allen socket you need.

Steve :

Maybe a torx socket which is star shaped.

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

ok steve i am talking bout the whole arm looks like a rod or somthing in it

JACUSTOMER-o42j09u7- :

just try in to see if i need a special tool

Steve :

There are no special tools need that you couldn't get at Sears like a torx socket if needed.
