Have you checked the level of the fluid for the power steering?

How many miles on the car?

How often does this happen?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.

I haven't checked the power steering fluid. It has 44.000 miles you think that causes the noise? It happens every morning, only on the cold start. Power steering fluid is between high and low. I checked the belts they're ok.

Expert:  HONDASERVICE7791 replied 6 years ago.

It sounds like it might be low on power steering fluid. If the belt seems ok and is not loose. I would investigate the power steering more carefully.

Top up the reservoir to high with genuine Honda fluid and then wait till it is cold and see if the noise goes away.

I checked the fluid and it's between high and low.

Was the fluid cold or at operating temperature?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.

When it was operating, it is between high and low. Now it is high, the engine is off.

Expert:  HONDASERVICE7791 replied 6 years ago.

Ok that sounds normal. The pump could still be making noise though. Try this little trick:

With the engine off and cold rub some bar soap on the ribbed part of the belt and then try to start it and see if the noise goes away.

Do I need to wait overnight to do this?

It only happens during first start in the morning.

You think it’s the alternator belt or the fly belt, it's nothing got to do with this?

Expert:  HONDASERVICE7791 replied 6 years ago.

If it only happens after the car sits then yes wait overnight to start the car. The soap will coat the belt and if it doesn't make noise then the belt is the culprit.

You mention a pump, what kind of pump?

Expert:  HONDASERVICE7791 replied 6 years ago.

It’s the power steering pump.
