master tech :

how many miles on this now ?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
138,000 miles, I even changed the fuel filter, distributor cap,,

ok can you tell me tha last time the valves have been adjusted and checked ?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.

My friend said to date advised so far valves have not been been checked or serviced, this is why i went through and changed everything else because of lack of proper maintainance.

ok i would run through the valve adjustment and then proceed.

tight or loose valves on these are very common and are known to burn valves on this engine.

these have to be adjusted cold so i would let it cool down over night and then adjust them in the am.

also what is the fuel pressure at ?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.

so valve problem is probably whay plug #4 is wet when i remove it to see if fouled?

Not sure about the fuel pressure, however probaly wouldn't hurt to change the fuel pressure regulator? My tool system is limited on the pressure check.

dont change it yet,

is this missing ?

im now thinking after your last reply this might have a valve issue.

# XXXXX spark plug is oil or fuel fouled ?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
i'm going to go pull it, I'll be right back.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
oil fouled

ok thats bad.

lets do a compression test and a leak down test.

im betting now this has a burnt valve.

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
burnt valve = complete valve job on the engine?

yes if this is the case.

lets start with a compression test and a cylinder leak down test
