How can I tell If my strut mount is bad I am replacing my

Resolved Question:

How can I tell If my strut mount is bad? I am replacing my front strut. I also have new strut mounts. If the strut mounts are ok, I am going to return them to the store. But I do not want to save $40/$80 to redo the work later if the mount(s) is/are bad. My Civic has 130,000 miles.

Hello welcome to the site
the front strut mount rarely fail on a Honda product
the struts are the weak link for us.
I have to say I have only replaced 2 sets over the last 23 years of working on hondas.

My old strut leaks. In a low speed in my beighborhood streets or in a parking lot, I could hear a squaky sound. When I took the strut out, I could easily compress the strut rod with one hand. So I am not sure if the sound came from the compressing the spring due to bad strut or bad strut mount. In a picture attached, the pring metal seat is not flat. Considering the spiral spring, it seems right to me. But I would like to double check, this is not a seat deformation. Third, the rubber seat has a small rapture when the spring end touches the rubber seat. I can see the " white" metal inside (see picure at around 12 oclock). Should I replace the rubber seat? Thanks!

ok if this was me i would install the new strut and see if this corrects the issue. i honestly don't think the strut mount is a issue.

we have seen springs cause some noise.
