2003 Honda Accord: a noise like metal scraping on metal..idling

This answer was rated:

2003 Honda Accord is making a noise like metal scraping on metal when driving (does not do this when idling).

Dose it only happen when the car is rolling? Does it go away when you apply the brakes?

Is the noise from under the hood or the wheel?

Hi John,

It only makes the sound when rolling, stops when I brake, it almost sounds like it is coming from the front wheel on the driver side. When I go in reverse the sound isn't as bad.

Ok, there are small metal tabs on the brake pads. When the pads are almost worn out these tabs scrape on the rotors as a warning. Sounds like your front brakes are worn out.

They are usually worn out aroung 50-60,000 miles.

Hi John,

Thank you for the answer. My ABS light has been coming on time-to-time during the past 2 weeks. I guess this could be related.

Have a good day!
