Customer Question

My Honda ODESSY has ABS light on. In dealer's shop said that compuer doesn't have kod for this and may be it needs new ABS unit. I cheked ABS relay, I opened it and it looks good. When I mechanichly forced relay latch, ABS Motor was working. I think that signal that should turnon relay is lost somewhere.

I have checked relay and fuses in ABS box.

Welcome to Just Answer!

What year Odyssey do you have? Have you checked all the fuses, even non ABS to see if they are good? Check the brake master cylinder fluid level & also the reservoir for the ABS modulator if applicable. You may want to try another relay that looks the same & determine if relay is not problem. Is there any other dash lights on, like brake or check engine light? Please let me know, so I can further assist you. Thank you.

OK,

I do not believe the Honda dealer was unable to pull any trouble codes for the ABS system. A major auto parts store may be able to retrieve them for you, if not you can try this:

To activate the self check ABS blink code, the vehicle must be turned OFF, not moving, SCS service connector installed, and the brake pedal released. Then proceed as follows:

  1. Block the wheels as necessary to prevent moving.
  2. With the ignition in the OFF position, locate the SCS service check cable connection under the vehicle's dash as illustrated in , and install the shunting tool, SCS Service Connector Tool No. 07PAZ-0010100 or its equivalent.
  3. Once the SCS tool is installed, make sure the brake pedal is released, turn the ignition ON and record the ABS indicator light blinking frequency.
  4. The ABS indicator should light for 2 seconds, then shut off for 3.6 seconds and begin to flash the stored DTCs. The ABS indicator light shuts off for 3.6 seconds between flashing each stored DTC. The DTC is a two digit code. The first digit is displayed by the ABS indicator light staying on in 1.3 second increments, then a 0.5 second pause, and the second digit flashed in 0.3 of a second increments. Hence code 32 would be displayed as three long flashes followed by two short flashes of the ABS indicator light.
  5. Turn the ignition switch OFF, clear the stored DTCs and remove the SCS connector.

Fig. 1: An SCS Service Connector tool must be used to shunt the 2-pin Service Check Connector-4-cylinder Odyssey model shown. You can use a paper clip to jump this also.

I don't trust any Dealer's shop. I have very bad history with them.

What you recomend is too complicated for me.

I will go to AutoZone. May be thay will give me some answer.

So far Thanks.

OK,

I am very sorry you have had bad experiences in the past. If you have another Honda dealer near you, maybe you can give them a try & would be a better place to deal with, more honest with you. Any thing else I can help with, please let me know. Thank you.
