Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I'm acuramstr. you replace this from the top. its not a fun starter to replace . remove the air cleaner tube and battery as well as the battery tray to get acess to the starter .to remove the bottom bolt I use a straight socket and extension combination that is about 1/2" longer than the starter body and break it loose with a long ratchet .it takes a little determination but it can de done at home. heres the page from the manual showing the bolt placement click HERE
