the manual says 3.9 quarts of 10w40
There are two drain holes. The one coming straight out of the bottom will get almost all of it.The one to the front of the engine will drain just a tiny bit of oil that gets dammed up in the crank case. Be sure and get the honda filter. There is nothing better. It is worth the extra money.

as for the oil being low on the stick i would not worry to much about it there is still 1.5 quarts if it is not on the stick.but i would look carefully at the oil you drain out for mettle.
