Thank you for your quick response. I think you overlooked that the problem indicates an existing file name "customer" already contains the data of last name, first name, and phone number. This file needs to be opened and used for the program. There should be a line in the main module:
Open "customer" For Input As GivenFile
Please adjust your code to reflect importing the data from the file.
I received feedback from the professor and apparently I was to only do part a of the problem. Here is his feedback:
Todd - you got a little ahead of me here. I only want you to do part "a"The user will enter a single name and you then search the file for a matching name and output the results. You'll use a flag to indicate whether or not the name was foundRemember when declaring arrays you need to use a number not a variable
I would fix this myself, but I am not sure where to place the flag.
Have you had a chance to modify the program?
see my professor's critique below:
Todd - see critiques below.-We don't use a Boolean data type in our pseudocode-You need to ask te user for a name then search through the file-You don't need arrays. The read should look like this:While NOT EOF(DataFile) Read DataFile, LastName, FirstName, Phone // Found a match - display results If LastName == Customer Then Write FirstName + “ ” + LastName + “ ” + Phone Set Found = 1 End IfEnd While
