there seems to have been a considerable increase in earthquakes

This answer was rated:

there seems to have been a considerable increase in earthquakes around the world in the last year to 18 months. Is this a sign that the plates are becoming more unstable and causing more movement? And should we be concerned about it. I live in the UK which has more than 400 earthquakes a year ranging from very minor (less than 2 on the scale) to the larger ones (5.2). Is it possible that long dormant fault lines could be triggered?
