ASSIGNMENT: Identify and describe key identifying characteristics of the baby boom generation, generation X, and generation Y
TIPS: Baby boomers-born between 1946 and 1964-they have aged-participation in workforce & earnings have increased-an important consumer market-concern for children, grandchildren, own health, their retirement-companies need to position products to respond to their interests; Generation X-born between 1965 and 1976 also known as the baby burst-# XXXXX each year declined-generation of consumers who are self reliant-supportive of racial & ethnic diversity-better educationed than previous generation-replace baby boomers as large segment of business travelers-hotels are creating new concepts that appel to them (casual, tech-friendly lodging, 24-hour access to food & drinks, suites featuring control panels for MP3 players & computers, plasma screen TVs & coffee & wine bars; Generation Y-born between 1977 and 1994-increase in births-result of baby boomers having babies-exertrs influence on some music, sports, computers, video games, & especially cell phones-view wireless communication as a lifeline to friends & family- 1st to use web-enabled mobile phones, send & receive text messages, play games & access email-attracted to purposeful work where they have control-have an entrepreneurial spirit-the term 'millennials' is often used with inconsistent definitions to refer to younger members of Generation Y and sometimes to Americans born since 1994. Because members of each generation are distinctive in their attitudes & consumer behavior, marketers have been studying the many groups or cohorts that make up the marketplace & have developed 'generational marketing' programs for them. Global marketers have discovered that many of the American generational differences also exist outside the USA. NEED BY TUESDAY PLEASE.
