Hi Amanda! I have a checkpoint due tonight by 9pm. Let me know if you can do this? I attached the web page for the interactive exercise. If you cannot view it from here, let me know and I will email it to you. I emailed it to myself and clicked on the link and it worked. This is the interactive site for the assignment. Questions follow http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072970871/student_view0/chapter13/psi_source__five_generations_of_slaves.html View the interactive exercise, Five Generations of Slaves. Use the information in your text (I believe it is the text at the top of the slave photo) about the class structure and slave culture in the Old South for this checkpoint. Write a 150 to 200 word response addressing the following points: ~Make assumptions about the owner of the plantation in the image. ~Make assumptions about the slave family in the image. ~Do you think the owner of the plantation and the slave family in the image are typical of that period? Why or why not?
Optional Information: Level: History to 1865
Thanks for requesting me! I hope you and your family are well. I will be happy to get this to you! Amanda
Great! My Dad did have a relapse and now has an infection. So, I have been running back and forth to New Jersey to the hospital! AUGH. All right before the holiday with tons of stuff to do... I did see that there is some reading from the text book for this assignment. I can do one of two things. I can give you the username and password XXXXX the classroom so you can access my syllabus to read the section for it (probably make it easier for you) or I can copy and paste it into a word document and send it to you through media fire. What would you prefer?
Whichever way is fine, I am sorry to hear about your father, sometimes the holidays can be grim, unfortunately. Amanda
Okay, I tried to copy and paste it into a word document and it isn't working that good. Here is the website to the syllabus. https://ecampus.phoenix.edu/classroom/ic/classroom.aspx You would go to week 6 (we are currently in week 7) and use the reading for Chapter 13 (the last link in the list). That will take you into the reading. You will be looking for the sections on Class structure and Slave culture in the Old South. The interactive link is listed in week 7. The picture needs to be viewed after the reading of Chapter 13 to answer the three questions that are listed above. There are questions listed below the picture on the interactive exercise that are not part of the assignment so they don't need to be answered. Just the three above. The questions can be integrated into the 150-200 word assignment. Let me know if you have any problems viewing the school syllabus. Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX a life saver!
Amanda, Just wanted to let you know that I will be offline for a while, I'm headed back to the hospital and won't be back for a while. Probably around 7 or so. I checked all the links and they got me right were I needed to go, so I don't think you will have any problems. Mozilla Firefox seemed to give me some trouble but when I went in through Internet explorer I had no problems. Thanks dear! :)
Hi Michelle, I need to have your username and password XXXXX see the syllabus....I will be able to get this done quickly once you give me the information. Amanda
Will you be able to lock this once its accepted? Otherwise my username and password XXXXX be visable.
Yeah, and I think that after I see the posting you may be able to edit it...maybe. Amanda
As long as you don't answer me back I can edit it. Once you see it I will go back in and edit it and remove it.39800.9904298611
Hopefully you got it, I went in and deleted that part of the reply.
I got it, and I am ready to answer the question...I took a history of education class this semester in my phd program and we read a really amazing book about African American education in the South, and what I was thinking about writing checks out with your reading. Amanda
Oh good. I will need to use that chapter for a reference and in text citations.
