Is it OK to take one tsp of tumeric powder a day if you are

Customer Question

Is it OK to take one tsp of tumeric powder a day if you are
on the blood thinner Elequis. What about topical application
of frankenscense oil? My dad has stage 4 lung cancer and
we are wanting to try some natural things while he is on
a chemo break but everything seems to be blood thinning,

Hi there,

I am Dr. Hoellering and pleased to help you with your question. Sorry to read about your father's condition. But you can apply frankenscense oil topically without problems, and turmeric powder is no problem with Eliquis, too.

I wish him all the best!

Hello

I have a different answer for you.

The interaction of tumeric with blood thinners of any type is problematic, potentially.

There is not enough study to say this is safe.

I am board certified in integrative medicine and internal medicine, and I am a US doctor.

See my profile.

I would not suggest turmeric with any blood thinner.

Not even Turmeric in lose dose, such as 1 tsp of powder a day? Do you have
any opinion on an alternative therapy I could dp research on...EVERYTHING seems
to be blood thinning. It's very discouraging.
Expert:  DrThomasMD replied 11 months ago.

dose interactions are not predictable.

Alternative therapy for what?

What type of lung cancer

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Adenocarcinoma of the outer lung and chest wall.
Expert:  DrThomasMD replied 11 months ago.

OK

There is no proven alternative therapy for this.

You are not going to help at this point with supplements.

There are integrative programs.

I need to purchase the additional services offer and you can give me
some options to look into that you believe would be beneficial for someone
with stage 4 lung cancer and is taking Eliquis? He is on a chemo break and
will be resuming Alimpta + Carboplatin in 6 weeks. I have done extensive
research but most everything is blood thinnning. Thanks!
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Just to clarify I am not talking about yoga and acupuncture...I am
thinking more along the lines of hemp oil and reservatrol. Thanks again.
Expert:  DrThomasMD replied 11 months ago.

I am not going to give you specific supplements for cancer.

That is not the approach, it it does not work.

There is no proof or study at all that hemp oil or resveratrol. would help him.

I will go into an integrative approach, but we do not treat on this site.

good luck

Ok, I am not sure what the integrative approach is....
