Dr. Nowicki,I'm lifting weights as hard as I can, and eating lots of all the right foods, but can't seem to gain any weight and can't lift very much weight (feel wimpy). I'm still only 125 lbs. but need to be at least 160.What do you think about something like this?http://www.buysteroids.com/D_anabol_25_s/20.htm#.T9k4l9Xy8iw

Good afternoon.
I understand your frustration. Building muscle mass takes time and can be quite difficult. Your medical history also complicates the ability to gain muscle mass as your digetive system is quite impaired.
However, using anabolic steroids has many significant consequences. Firts off, possession of anabolic steroids without a prescription is federally illegal. This is punishable by up to one year in prison. Second, there are serious health risks associated with the use of steroids. These include: testicular atrophy (shrinking testicles), gynecomastia (development of breasts), reduced sexual function, acne, liver damage, and a significant increase risk of cardiovascular disease to name a few. I do not believe it is worth the risk and I would not recommend the use of steroids to any of my patients.
I understand the temptation, but I would not recommend you avoid this product.
The best way to build lean muscle mass is strict diet and exercise. The best diet and exercise plan I have seen thus far is The Metabolic Effect by Jade and Keoni Teta. You can check out their blog here: http://blog.metaboliceffect.com/
They will walk you through the exact ways to build muscle. It is a fantastic plan. It may be that you are working out too much and burning muscle rather than building it. Many body building plans recommend working out no more than 1-2 hours per week!
If you are interested in reading a fascinating book on working out, check out Tim Ferriss' The 4 Hour Body. http://fourhourbody.com/
He gained 34 pounds of muscle in 28 days...naturally.
I also recommend increasing lean protein in your diet. This is the only way to naturally build more muscle.
We all want quick results. However, steroids is not the way to go. Beside, when you stop using them, you go backwards within 6-12 weeks. It's just not worth it. Unfortunately, the best and only was to naturally build lean muscle and burn fat is through strict diet and hard work.

Yes, I am careful not to overwork the muscles and to give them time to rest.I think I have to improve nutrient absorbtion to solve this. It's SO frustrating, one time in the past I worked out for over a year and didn't gain weight.I'll check out some of the info and keep trying. If you have any ideas to improve absorbtion, let me know.
I really do understand your frustration. I have been working out for more than 2 years without seeing the results I expected. That said, I started The Metabolic Effect Plan and within 6 weeks saw dramatic changes! You can also consider adding digestive enzymes along with hydrochloric acid which can help absorption. The Alletess food sensitivity test can also help. It is essential to put the right foods into your system. Just like it is essential to put the right gas in a car. For example, if you try to put diesel gas in an unleaded engine, the engine will shut down. It's not that the gas is bad or that the engine is bad, it's that the two together don't work. Similarly, if you are eating foods that don't work well with your system, the 'engine' will shut down and not work optimally. We will continue to work on this.-dr. John
The lowest price I found for the butyrate enema (for my diverted rectum that is inflamed and bleeding) is $40 a week. Do you think it's still worth getting? Before I was diverted, I emagine butyrate was reaching that tissue, yet I still had major problems, so just trying to make an educated quess as to what improvement I might get by adding it now.
I absolutely think it is still worth getting. Butyrate may have been reaching the tissue before, however, not even close to the amounts that you will get from the enema. The enema contains therapeutic high doses of butyrate. I believe it is well worth the cost.
My expectation is that the butyrate will reduce the inflammation and therefore relieve pain and reduce bleeding. I believe it is a great treatment option with significant potential benefit and little to no risk.
I will give it a shot. Is this enough?200mg/tsp. Sig.15cc in 1/2 pint warm water, twice daily
Yes. That is good. Please let me know how you do.
