I have a Kenwood vr 615 receiver, a toshiba dvr/vcr recorder

Customer Question

I have a Kenwood vr 615 receiver, a toshiba dvr/vcr recorder and a Uverse wireless box and a Vizio smart tv.I've hooked up my dvr/vcr player/recorder to my tv Via hdmi as well as my U-verse box. I thought if I hooked the video out to the receiver it would give me the option to have the surround sound through my receiver when selecting video1, but it doesn't seem to be working. Is it just a setting, or do I need to hook up more connections.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back. Busy week. Model numbers are AT&T U-verse model ISB7005, Toshiba D-VR660 DVR recorder/VCR Combo, Kenwood VR-615 audio-video surround sound receiver, and Vizio M50-C1.

Appreciate the post back.

The simplest connection would be to use a pair of red & white RCA-to-RCA cable from the Vizio's L & R AUDIO OUT jacks (next to the antenna connector) to the Kenwood's L & R AUX jacks.

That's what I did, but I don't get the sound out of my receiver after selecting aux on the receiver remote like I thought I would.

Does the Kenwood work if in AM or FM mode?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
On tuner, yes.

Let's try review the basics:

  • disconnect the RCA plugs to the Vizio and lightly touch the tip / pin of the plug/cable to the Kenwood as there should be a thump/humming sound from the Kenwood connected speakers;
  • check / replace the RCA-to-RCA cable;
  • check settings on TV's MENU / AUDIO / Analog Audio Out / Fixed.

Ok. I'll have to try that tomorrow. I'll let you know.
