Home Theater Questions? Ask a Technician for Answers ASAP
Hi , I`m JackPerhaps I can help you with this problem , please send me a reply when you see this ?
When you say rear speaker , do you mean the sub woofer ?I would also require the bar`s model number please ?
O.k and right now only the rear speakers do not work ?
give me a few minutes please
Sorry this takes a while , the vizio website is finicky when it comes to manual .
I only have the quick start manual now and this may have to do with the sound mode.
One question on this though ;
Where did you connect the bar ?
At the back of the TV's optical port ?
O.k then that is 2 channels PCM at best , not surround .
Can you try it at the back of the direct tv box (receiver) ?
That box should have either an optical or coaxial digital and that will be surround , can you look ?
receiver as I indicated above
Your sound bar has coaxial input and it uses a standard rca type cable
Normally for the best setup you would connect your direct tv box hdmi into the sound bar and from there hdmi out to the tv , that would be the best sound and you could see the sound bar menu on the tv screen
Yes there is one IN and one OUT look again
click the link here and close the popup if there is one , a picture behind that ;
what you need to do now is turn the surround mode on and connecting to a surround source VS a 2 channel source may just do that
Try the coaxial cable then
I have 2 pictures for you ;
This one is for surround speakers level
And this one to turn on/off surround;
Do you get sound at all with the coaxial ?
In the menu you also have " Spkr Test " , speaker test , try it
Press the Play/Pause button to activate the speaker test function. A voice will
begin calling out each speaker beginning with left front. (Left Front, Center, Right
Front, Right Rear, Left Rear, and Subwoofer-white noise) If any of these are
missing, check the connection and run the speaker test function again.
Now if the speaker test fails and your speakers are connected correctly then something is wrong with the bar , that test does not take surround into account , it tests all speakers
Let me know how that goes
O.k then do you get sound at all with the coaxial ?
Did you turn on the surround mode and adjust the surround speakers level ??
On your sound bar there are hdmi, optical , coaxial and analog inputs
just want to make sure here about what you said above about the test working but not the speakers , did you mean that you did no hear the rear speakers during the test ??
You said above that the coaxial did not work when I asked you to try it then later that there was no coaxial input on the bar ???
If you`re not going to try honestly what I suggest then this is not going to work and I`m opting out .
Thank you for allowing me to assist you, my name is Joe and I will be happy to assist you with your concern today.
The model number you provided does not have an hdmi in or out as you suspected. You can simply use the optical out from your tv to the sound bar just like you were to begin with. Set tv mode to external speakers. The fact that the rear speakers work during test means they are correctly connected.
Make sure dts trusurround is turned on.
If surround is turned to off you will only have 3.1 and no surrounds, make sure surround is turned to on.
On this device/model any input source will reproduce to virtual 5.1 meaning digital or analog it will convert audio to play from all speakers so long as surround is set to on and dts trusurround is on.
Thank you!- Joe
