Hello , my name is Jack
Perhaps I can help you with this problem but first i would have a few questions ;
I take it that we are talking about a sound system ?
If so , could you please give me the model number ?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
AVR-S700W
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
Ok then that is a Denon
Is there anything like a light just above the power button on the front panel , clicking sound from inside when you plug it in or try to turn it on or is it completely dead ?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Green light is always on.
System turns on and off fine.
Clicking sound is happening where expected, on turning the system on and off. Again green light is on always-- on or off.

I am also connected to a DVR and blue ray
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Dimmer has no effect.
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
Yes , I was aware of the green light when on , as it happens I have the same receiver .
Mine does turn red when off though.
Was just wondering about power getting to the unit and apparently it does.
Ok then in that case did you try a system reset ?
By the way , feel free to tell me what you tried so far
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What is a system reset?
Just turn it off and then turn it on?
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
Ok then here it is and that is not guaranteed to bring back the display but is guaranteed to wipe off your presets , it will be back to factory default so before you try it you may just want to try pulling out the power cord 30 secs or so and try it again. If still the same then go for the system reset this way ;https://www.dropbox.com/s/36u62mud5bj2z17/2015-06-07_1516.png?dl=0Let me know how that goes
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Jack,
I pushed the reset and tried the unplug thing.
Still no display.
Now what?
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
Ok then in that case I`m afraid that I can only tell you what you are already know by now although perhaps needed confirmation and also the system reset you were not aware of but needed to be tried before calling it ;
Your Denon is defective , you have now tried everything that could be tried in a case like this.
This model is not very old though and perhaps still under warranty ?
Was it refurbished when you bought it ?
Reason for asking is that it seems there are a fair bit of refurbished units going around .
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No,
It is new.
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
Ok then your denon is still under the 2 years warranty and this is for you ;http://assets.denon.com//DocumentMaster/US/WebWarrHOME-NEW-US-Dec11_02.pdfIf that answers your question please do not forget to rate or you can use the reply button before or after rating if you have other questions , thank you .
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Jack,
I bought it at Beat Buy.
Is my only option To unplug the whole thing and bring it In?
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
afraid so then but I would contact denon first as they will give you their nearest ASC and it might not be that bestbuy if it has been more than a month since you bought it
