Thanks for checking into my TV's problem. I tried both of my DVD players with the sound turned all the way up and there was no humming or buzzing.
But... I did this weird thing by accident the other day and tried it again this morning and I get sound when I do it: I plugged the Sony into the white/red ports on the right channel (doesn't work on the left) AND plugged the Samsung into the HDMI port AND pressed play on both devices, the TV then plays the video from the Samsung and the sound from the Sony. It only happens if Source = HDMI. So it seems like the speakers work, but something is scrambled. Hope that gives you some clues.
Thank you. These symptoms indicate that there's a processing issue in the Audio that occurs in the mainboard. The Mainboard routes and processes all of the audio, and also contains the IC chip that drives the internal speakers. This is unfortunately a problem I've seen many times on Olevia sets, and they are notorious for it. The solution in all cases has been to replace the Mainboard with a new one.
The only issue is that because this is such a common problem, the mainboard has become very scarce to impossible to find for Olevia sets. The only solution would be to contact www.shopjimmy.com , or the site at the link below and ask them to contact you when a pulled board becomes available. These sites purchase TV's with broken panels an d salvage them for parts.
