Hello and thank you for the question.
Yes, you can connect the LG TV to the Yamaha in order to get sound to playback through the receiver from the USB connection on the TV.
The red, white and yellow cables will not work for this however, and you will instead, use an Optical Cable to connect to the Digital Audio Output jack on the TV and then into one of the Optical Inputs on the Yamaha. Select the correct Input on the Yamaha and then go into the TV's menu and shut of internal speakers.
This will route all of the sound from the TV, instead to the Yamaha to playback it's sound.
Optical cables are available at Radio Shack, Best Buy and even Wal Mart. If you need a link to the cable or further assistance let me know.

I do not see any optical connections on the receiver.
Thanks for the reply. Ahh, that model number looks current but upon further looking I see it's an older model. There are indeed no optical connections on it.
In this case, what you need is an Optical Converter- this takes all the sound Input to the TV, conbverts it to RCA red and white, and you can then plug into the Yamaha receiver.
The link below is the converter you'd need:
Here is the Optical Cable:
The connections would look like this:
TV Optical Out------>Optical Cable---->Optical Input of Converter/RCA Output of converter-----> RCA cables----->RCA Inputs of Yamaha receiver. If you need a link to the cable or further assistance let me know. If you're satisfied with my service please do not forget to rate me accordingly.
No I do not need further assistance yes I have given you a positive feedback.
