My livelihood depends on your positive feedback, so your satisfaction is my highest priority. Let’s get started!
Hi there, sorry to hear you're having trouble with the Bose,
the aux cables won't do you any good here, as the a/v ports on the tv are inputs only, they won't output sound to the aux connections on the bose
The optical port however should work.
You may need to make a few adjustments on the tv though, such as going into the audio setup menu, and looking for an option to enable external speakers/theater system (turning on the optical output), or disabling the internal tv speakers. You may also need to adjust the audio output mode. Try setting it to Dolby/digital, and if that doesn't work, try PCM. Don't put it on auto.
You'll also need to make sure that you have set the bose to the proper input mode (optical/digital input) to pick up the signal from the tv.
Where do I find the audio setup menu on the smart TV. Also I am using the Bose to play DVDs on my TV.
I am sorry but I was hoping for a more step by step guide to resolve this issue.
The audio format is set for PCM according to the TV
Where do I find optical port option on the smart TV? I have looked under the menu to sounds and there does not appear to be an option.
Very disappointed in this service. I needed a little more help with this issue and instruction.
I would like to discontinue this service to my account immediately.
Hi there, sorry I missed you earlier,
I'm more than happy to continue advising you, or provide more detail.
Did you read my comments regarding detail?
Yes, I did,
I also see that you rated me with "bad service", before you had even responded back or given me an opportunity to follow up with you.
Can you tell me what steps you've tried so far, and where you need more help?
I am sorry but your response did not help.
I need to know what you've done, before I can give any other suggestions
and I would need to know the full model number of your tv to be able to give any more detail on the specific tv settings, if you need those.
I changed my sound on the TV to external device. This did not work. I need step by step instruction in connecting the bose to the TV. I have placed an optical cable to the TV and bose.
Ok, and what input mode did you set the bose to?
TV model UN55F6300AFXZA
Ok, if you've already set the tv to external device, then the next adjustments will be made on the bose.
What input have you set the bose to?
How do I set input mode on the bose?
What I mean is that when you change between different inputs (like TV, VCR, Cbl/sat, aux, dvd, am/fm, etc)
this is done via the bose remote
Ok. I am not able to see a screen on bose on the TV.
I have set the bose to TV on its screen.
Do you have a video output connection out from the bose to the tv? (the yellow, or red/green/blue cables)
Bose source set on TV
you'll need to get the bose display showing on the tv before we can proceed any further in adjusting the bose menu settings.
Yes. I connected the yellow from the yellow AUX on Bose to the yellow on the TV component in/AV. I also connected the red and white on the back of the bose on AUX to the TVs component AV/in.
How do I get the bose menu to show up on the smart TV?
Okay, then you need to set the tv to the composite/aux input mode.
Press the SOURCE button at the top of the samsung remote
you may need to press it several times to cycle through the different options, until you get to the bose
note that you'd do this same thing when you want to watch a dvd through the bose
We are not using our TV for cable. It is only set for the smart apps netflix, pandora, etc. Not sure if they makes any difference in the instructions you are giving me.
No, it does not.
What we need to do first is get the bose display on the tv, so we can adjust some of the bose settings
from there, you probably won't ever have to bother with the bose system again,
Ok. The bose is not showing up as a source on my TV screen. I have scrolled through all the options but it appears the TV is not picking up the bose.
Can you tell me which port you put the yellow bose cable to on the tv?
Is it on the top rca port (color coded green)?
The only options highlighted is TV HDM1 AV and Scereen Mirroring. There is no option for Bose
It won't show the actual words "bose". The tv has no way of knowing what is plugged into it, it is just displays whatever signal it is given.
Use the AV one.
Yes green and circled in yellow.
Ok. I have chosen AV. TV says no signal check cable connections and settings and press source on remote to select connected source
I think you may have the connection on the bose in the wrong place
on the bose the yellow cord needs to be connected to the port labeled video out or monitor out
aux is an input on the bose, not an output
on the bose video is a seperate non-colored cable that the end has several spikes. There is not a space on the TV for this type of cable.
I just placed the yellow cable on the bose to audio out. Do I need to also place the red and white cable on the audio out also.
there should be one right next to that which says composite video ouput
no, you don't have to worry about those
because if you ever play a dvd from bose, you'd only need video to the tv. You'd want the sound to come through bose speakers, not the tv speakers, so red/white are unnecessary here
Excellent found it. The yellow is plugged in composite and red and white is placed on the AUX.
I now have the screen that says audio to adjust these system options:
Ok, now while you're back there,
make sure that the optical port your'e using is on the INPUT (black door), not the output (gray door)
I now have the screen on the TV that says audio.
You mean within the bose menu, right? (not the tv setup menu)
On the bose menu, you need to get to the middle section (looking at the icons on the top row) that says Media Center
then go down to Optical Source
set that to TV.
Do I need to go back to source to find it.
When that is done, you'll put the bose into the TV input mode, to pick up signal from the samsung
Yes, if you aren't on that input (AV) on the tv already, you do
My screen says bass compensation, treble compensation, audio processing, input levels, adaptiQ, expansion protocol
You're close, but not in the right spot
get into media center, you're under the speaker options
If I go back to source and choose AV I have the same screen.
No, leave the samsung alone, keep it on the AV (bose) input.
You have to do this on the bose remote, we are adjusting the bose settings now
Do that by pressing the SYSTEM button on the bose remote
then navigate the menu using the up/down/left/right and enter keys
On the bottom of the screen it says BOSE
This is what you need to get to
see the icons at the top (audio, video, media center, etc)
go to media center, then down to Optical Source
Ok. I don't see the choice media center
Do you see the picture I sent?
See the row of icons at the top, that look like a speaker, a tv screen, the bose system, remote, and padlock?
Got it. Do I choose TV
Yes. Thanks for the pic I am now on optical source
so go into the optical source settings
and pick TV
Now get out of the menu (should be able to press System again or just keep going back)
Then press the TV button on the bose
that will set the bose to tv mode, along with the optical input port we just set up
Ok. Now my Bose show PCM 2.0
now go onto the samsung, and pull up netflix, or whatever you want to watch, just like you normally would
and sound should then come through the bose speakers
Thank you. Now If I want to play the DVD player on the BOSE do I change my source on the BOSE and TV?
Yes, that is correct
You'd set the TV back to the AV input (to get video signal from bose)
and hit the dvd/cd button on the bose remote
just like normally watching tv
Thank you very much. I have on more question when choose to play the DVD player on the Bose what source is it suppose to be on the TV?
You're very welcome,
When on dvd, the tv needs to be on AV mode
that means it is picking up the video signal (from dvd) on the tv sent by the bose
the only time you'll ever put the TV onto the AV (bose) mode, is when you want to watch a dvd, or when you want to access the bose setup menu
Otherwise, you can leave the bose set to TV (optical) mode at all times (when not watching a dvd), and you can leave the tv on smart mode, or whatever else you want to do
Ok. I appreciate all your help.
You're very welcome, I'm glad I could be of assistance.
And I apologize for not being more clear and detailed initially.
I never know what level of assistance someone might require, so usually keep it somewhat generic until I know if more or less detail is needed.
I will be glad to change my rating. I do appreciate the help. Paying the money was worth it. I am not technology-savy. Not my expertise. Glad I found the website. Enjoy rest of your day!
Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX as well.
