I have a Denon AVR 1905 and it won't turn on. When I turn it on the light around the power button flashes green for 3-4 seconds and then shuts down and turns to red. So it never puts out any sound--cuts off before it gets to that point. I have disconnected all speakers and all other outputs to see if that was a problem but no change. Is there anything I can do?
Already Tried: Unplugging it, unplugging all outputs

Unfortunately, there is no quick/simple fix for this.
When the standby light is blinking, the receiver is indicating that the amplifier is in the protected mode. The common fix for a malfunctioning receiver, resetting the microprocessor, will not clear this fault, it is a hardware defect. The protection circuit is triggered when the receiver detects a DC offset condition, indicating internal damage to one of the amp circuits. As a result, the protection circuit powers the unit down and prevents the relays from engaging to prevent damage to the speakers or other amp circuits.
This is something that will require repair by a qualified tech. If you'll let me know your zip code, I'll put you in touch with the closest Denon authorized service provider.
I will caution you, however, that this is an older model, and far beyond the 2 year warranty. You can expect the repair to be several hundred dollars, so you may consider applying that investment toward a replacement receiver. If you'd like a recommendation for a replacement model, let me know.
Thanks,Nathan
Thank you. What model would you recommend? I don't have a home theater system now but would like the capability to add that in the future.

I found the service center in cuyahoga falls. So if that's where you'd send me, I've got that. Thanks
Hello, sorry for the delay, didn't get your response until now.
For a comparable model, to give you full HT functionality down the road, I'd go with the Denon AVR-1613 (click for link) it will be a good starting point for all the basic functionality, including 3d.
There are certainly higher end models, with added functions such as multiple zones, 7 channel surround (instead of the basic 5) etc, but costs will go up quite a bit, so for typical use, this is a good base.
