I have an avr 2807 and need advice. I hooked up 1 hdmi input for cable tv and 1 for blu ray. My problem is that the avr only recognizes the one input and not the other. Meaning I can't get the avr to switch between the input devices. Is there way to set up the avr so that it will recognize the device that is running? Please advise.

The Auto source mode honestly doesn't work well in most cases. Only when HDMI control is enabled on all devices and all devices have compatible hdmi control protocols to work with each other.
The only practical option here is to use the avr to manually change between sources, by using the source selection knob/buttons on the denon remote.
Here you'll switch between the TV and BluRay inputs.
I tried switching using source selection knob without success with input mode set to auto. Do I need to set mode to something other than auto? The choices are: auto, pcm, dts, analog, and ext.in.
Auto is ok. These settings are for the audio format, they have no effect on video.
What options are you chosing?
This is most likely a source setup issue, meaning that the "TV" and "BLURAY" input modes are not aligned with the hdmi1/hdmi2 ports on the back of the receiver.
Press the setup button, then go to input assign, and there for each input mode (tv, bluray, sat, dvd, game, etc) you'll be able to assign the input port used (hdmi1/2 in this case)
That worked. Thank you
