OK, please make sure HDMI cable is plugged fully in player and TV.
Select DVD by pressing Function button of home theater remote then press Video Format button, wait few seconds to see HDMI icon light up and TV show the player screen, press Video Format button again and wait, repeat it.

Do you get picture in TV now?
Let me know to proceed further.

OK, please unplug power cords of TV and home theater from wall outlet for few minutes, replug back in, turn both units On and check.

No change. HDMI1 is on the TV screen with no picture and the sound is coming oout fine from the DVD. I also changed the source to HDMI 2 with no change. The cable from the TV to the Sony DVD player is plugged into HDMI 2.

OK, can you please swap the HDMI cable as you have two cables in hand.
Try that cable that gives picture of cable box, plug it in home theater and check.

OK, lets reset the home theater to restore default settings that may help to resolve the issue.

Turn home theater On, press Stop, Eject and Power buttons on unit front at same time, front display will show Cold Reset, turn unit back On if shuts Off.

Now check home theater picture / screen in TV.

I have now rebooted the system and turned it back on and we have no changes

OK, lets narrow down the problem as we have two units in question and any one could be cause of problem.
HDMI-1 of TV is fine with cable box so hook home theater in HDMI-1 to find out is it home theater problem or HDMI-2 input of TV got bad for some reason.

Customer replied 297 days and 3 hours ago.

I have already moved the cable and no improvement.

OK, it seems HDMI Out port of home theater isn't working properly or defective and TV is OK as its both HDMI inputs are working with cable box.

Do you get home theater picture through yellow-red-white AV cable?

Customer replied 297 days and 3 hours ago.

yes...... is there anyway that we can pick this up tomorrow? I just received an emergency call and I Have to go?

Sure, do not reply this post until you have convenient time.
Thanks.

Shahid, I'm back. sorry for the delay. The last question that you had asked before the emergency call was if i had the 3 color cable in use? The answer is yes and this is how they are plugged in on the Sony unit the Red is Audio In R, White audio In L, yellow video Out.
On the set top box it is yellow video out, red audio R, white Audio L. there are none of these connected to the TV directly.

Hi again,

As we have sorted out before that composite video output of home theater works and HDMI output isn't working, TV shows picture with AV wires but doesn't show home theater picture through HDMI cable.
We also swapped HDMI cables and both found OK on cable box and TV HDMI inputs are also working on cable box through HDMI cable.

So it proves that HDMI output terminal of home theater isn't sending out video to TV for some reason, we did reset to home theater that didn't help too.

Let me know if I missed any thing here?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, however, these steps did not resolve the issue. I am going to try another avenue to rectify the situation. thanks again
