Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, post back with the model numbers of the TV and the surround system. Additionally, please describe how the 2 are connected using what kind of cable(s).

Incidentally, is there a cable box or satellite receiver used with the TV?

The cable cord is a Dynex HDMI High Speed with Ethernet cable and yes, there is a cable box used with the t.v.

Appreciate the information on the Denon.

Please post back with the model numbers of the Vizio TV and the cable box.

Customer replied 294 days and 6 hours ago.

The model # XXXXX the t.v. is E470VL
I can't find the model # XXXXX the cable box but hope this info will help for the cable box. HDTV Explorer 8300HDC with Oceanic Time Warner Cable Co.

Proposed connections would be:

  • • from the Explorer 8300HDC's HDMI port to the Denon's HDMI IN CBL/SAT;
  • • from the Denon's HDMI OUT MONITOR to the Vizio's HDMI 1;
  • • using the TV's remote, set the TV to HDMI-1 by pressing the HDMI button or the INPUT button a couple of times to cycle through the choices;
  • • the Denon must be set to CBL/SAT.

Alternatively:
  • • from the Explorer 8300HDC's HDMI port to the Vizio's HDMI 1;
  • • from the Vizio's AUDIO OUT L & R (red & white RCA jacks) to the Denon's unused line level • • input jack pair such as the red & white of CBL/SAT.

Please post back how things turned up and/or should additional information be needed.

I understand. Then try the alternative connection method:

  • • from the Explorer 8300HDC's HDMI port to the Vizio's HDMI 1;
  • • from the Vizio's AUDIO OUT L & R (red & white RCA jacks) to the Denon's unused line level input jack pair such as the red & white of CBL/SAT.
