I have a Yamaha RX-V665 Receiver for my home theater system.

Customer Question

I have a Yamaha RX-V665 Receiver for my home theater system. My cable/TV option is the HDMI2 input on the receiver. All of the other input items such as DVD, XBOX, etc. are connecting correctly, but when I change the input to HDMI2, I get a PCM message on the receiver screen and get no audio/video on the TV screen.

Can you help?

Hello, my name is Rusty. I can help you.

What type of cable are you using to run to your TV? I'm compiling your answer while waiting for your reply.

Not quite what I meant... What type of cable (the cord) connects your Yamaha to your TV set? HDMI? Red green blue?

Hello. My name is XXXX, XXX I can assist you. I use to be a factory service center for Yamaha. I'm assuming you are using HDMI1 for everything but the Cable TV, correct? As they are working fine, as you mentioned, the quickest way to test a theory is by plugging in your Cable TV box to HDMI1. If it still doesn't work, when all the other components did, you have a firmware issue. If it now works on HDMI1, back into the menu for the TV, and make sure HDMI, appears in the menu. There are no settings to change, on either of those 2 inputs, as they are dedicated already as HDMI 1 and 2.

Please reply back to me directly, using my name, which is again Dave, to avoid any confusion as to who you are working with.

I believe you will find that your Cable TV box, will not work in either port, as I believe it is a firmware related issue. Once you get back to me, I can check with Yamaha, to see if they have a newer version of firmware, is address this issue.

When you have time, please take a moment to rate my answer. Anything from 3 to 5, will insure that I am compensated for my time and expertise.

Thank you,

Dave
