Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, remote control codes for another receiver (even a TX-SR600) can not be entered if to be used with ZONE 2. This is specifically stipulated in p. 69 of the TX-NR709's Owner's Manual.

I realize that the above reply may perhaps be not what was expected. It is unfortunately, a design feature limitation.

Please post back should you still want to use the TX-SR609 as ZONE 2's amp.

Is there any way that I can use the NR709 to control the functions of SR600? Basically, I have the SR600 in another room connected to different speakers. It would be great if I cn use the IR cable to connect the both receivers. I tried the IR extenders but they are unreliable. Maybe if I spend a couple hundred dollars I might get a good one but I do not want to spend that much.
Let me know if there is any possibility.
Thanks
Murat

By themselves, the only possible control would be the volume level; i.e. the NR709 controls the volume level that goes to its ZONE 2 L & R LINE OUT. In turn this output jacks would be connected by a pair of long RCA to RCA cable to the SR600's CD IN L & R.
