Home Security System Repair Questions? Ask a Technician.
Hi, I'm Pete. Welcome to JustAnswer! I'm reviewing your question now, and will post back with your reply ASAP.
Over time, the safe's lock mechanism can seize up if it is not used regularly and kept lubricated.
Sometimes hitting the lock area a few times with a rubber mallet is enough to loosen up the mechanism.
Also try holding the safe at a right angle and pressing the lid down and shake it as you are turning the key. This should allow for the latch to move if the spring loaded mechanism has become loose in the back of the lock. You may also need to take a butter knife and gently pry it as you're attempting to unlock it.
