Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model number of the security system.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Safewatch pro 2000
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
system number is###-##-####I think.....if that helps
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
The I'm dying here louie.
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Appreciate the additional information.

Is this a recent / freshinstall? ...or has it been in operation for some time and this "...beeping...won't shut up..." is just a recent occurrence?

Are you comfortable opening the system enclosure?

If yes, please post back with clear pictures. Click HERE.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
How would I open the system enclosre? the screws under the motherboard?
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Or the front of the thing?
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

To my recollection, the enclosure snaps together.

Still, let's review first the basics:

  • is there any displayed error message / code?
  • have you tried unplugging again from vthe outlet and if able plug back in into a different outlet.
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok, so unsnap the front of it?
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
It's unplugged. No error displayed now
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Is it still beeping?

When was the last time that the internal battery has been replaced?

As posted above, have you tried plugging back in but into a different outlet?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I dont see the outlet.
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
It seems to be in the wall somewhere
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I don't know if the battery has ever been replaced
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

If you can not unplug the system, then it is not recommended to open it up as the inside is LIVE! electrically.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
ok. So, what do I do?
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Where do I open the system enclosure?
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
It hasn't stopped beeping since it started. Except when I turn the power off at the breaker
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Then yes please, "...turn the power off at the breaker..." to make it "...make it shut up..."

How old is the sytem?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok. I flipped the breaker. Unfortunately it turned off all the lights near it.
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
It's way less stressful with the alarm off....
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

I understand and this would be the only safe easy user doable.

Next would be to search and look for the AC power cord of the ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 and where it is tied to the electrical outlet or wiring of the house. The objective is to isolate the alarm system, make it SAFE to work on even opening its enclosure.

If its AC power cord can not be located/unplugged, then it would not be SAFE to continue this line of approach; i.e. opening the enclosure.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
ok. How do I open the enclosure? The power wire appears to go down into the drywall. Could I just pull on the chords till they come out? That seems bad.
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

No please do not pull the wires.

Can we try try the pictures even if just the keytpad/controls?

Upon further review of the system, the keypad is just the exposed half of the system. The other half holds the main panel battery

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I'll try.....but it's really dark up there now.
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Might it be to your advantage to work on it when no longer dark? ...be safe!

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
it's the part inside the closet you want a picture of? // Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Can I message back in the morning?
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Yes please; when conveniently safe.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Thanks for your help. Have a good night.
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Cheers.
