I have a PC1550 in which I just changed the backup battery. The replacement went fine until about 48hrs later the keypad lets out a continual beeps and will not be silenced by any key combination, the only way to stop the beep is to disconnected the power and battery.Any ideas what is wrong? The original battery was a 12V 6.9AmpHr, and I replaced it with a 12v 7AmpHr unit. I swapped the new battery again thginking it may not be holding charge but the replacement did exactly the same thing - installed well but constant beep started after around 48hrs an dhad to disconnect.
Hello - maybe I can help. Can you please tell me if you have tested the AC power , transformer, and fuse, as the description of you symtoms reflect NO AC power to the panel.
Please advise and thank you for your time.
Hi. I have tested the AC and fuses which are OK. Have not tested the transformer but even after the 48hr period after I install the new battery, it still is holding charge at 12V so wouldn't it be getting charge from the mains (via the transformer)?
The transformer has a fuse (sealed) inside as well. Please tell me if the transformer feels "warm" to the touch. I still believe the panel is not gettingthe AC voltage from the transformer - this would account for the system symptoms and if the battery was completely removed and the AC was Ok, the panel would operate normally, just a "Trouble" light - message on your keypad . If this is the case, then the battery would be depleted to the point of not enough voltage / current to operate the panel, even though is has *some* power left.
Please advise and thank you for your time
OK, I will need to test the transformer tonight (in about 10 hrs). I'll get back to you. Thanks.
Ok , good luck.
Finally got the multimeter on to the transformer and yep it's dead.
Thanks for the advice.
