QC 444 CCTV system. Forgot password XXXXX log in to DVR. How can I reset to default?
Optional Information: Make: QC Model: 444 Already Tried: attempted to change password XXX interrupted & forgot what I had enteredfor new password. How can I reset to original password, which was 888888?
Hello - maybe I can help. Are you comfortable removing the cover and perfroming a few internal steps, as this will require a "factory default" to get back to 888888. Please advise and thank you for your time.
yes,I believe I can handle that if given step-by-step instructions on what to do.
Ok - this *should* allow you to default the DVR, ALL settings will be lost in most cases so you may want to write down any setting you have customized from the factory deafaults

I did NOT get a response, as this was answered via Q/A VS chat, and I did not have a chance to see, comment, or otherwise follow through to completion.
Sorry. I tried to reply to your answer, but message didn't reach you because I am very inept at using computers. I tried your recommendation twice, but got no results. I am sure I follwed instructions exactly. I expect you need more information than I gave. I also have an error indicated on the HDD, but can't log in to find out how to correct that either.
Please find the following link bellow to the correct hard drive After reviewing the test results, your hard drive has failed or is failing ,causing the error. The specifications for a new one if you want to buy at Best Buy, Wal Mart, etc. are as follows: ** 500 GB 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive You can also find them on line , most likely cheaper if you can wait. Here is a link to the above specified hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148539 Please " let FIRST install the hard drive, then leave battery OUT and use a paper clip and SHORT OUT THE BATTERY HOLDER "CLIPS" ON THE BOARD BEFORE RE INSTALLING BATTERY AND POWERING BACK UP!! Thank you for your time.

Thanks for your answer to my HDD problem. It may be aweek or two before I can get a new hard drive, but I'm sure you have solved my problem, and if that doesn't work, it will be my own fault. I will make sure to get some help installing it properly. Thanks for your help. I'll be calling upon you again, no doubt. I'm sure to screw up something else, and haven't had any luck with Q-See tech support, so far.
Kind words. I thank you for your patience and time, and , agian , for using my services!
Hello -- you have rated my answer "first to try" as negative, and I was wondering if you would kindly reply as to what was done and why you did not contact me prior to your assesment, please advise and thank you for your time.
More than satisfied. I have already submitted the highest rating possible, but I' m a total computer "dummie" so only God knows where the message ended up'! Someone at Just Answer e-mailed me, and said they would relay the rating to the proper location. Wish I could remember who sent that message to me. Three things fail when you reach my age......your memory first. I can't recall the other two.
Thank you very much for responding -- I was sure the *fix* would work. The site was having some problems, as well, and I can't remeber the other 2 either!
