Customer Question

I have a visonic powermax system. currently the display registers "Not ready" and flashing Memory and alternating with the date. Looking at the memory it says "front door open" It is not however. I have opened the contact module to see if there is any dust or that the battery was not making good contact. Everything appears ok with the red neon light flashing before it resets itself. the same display is indicated on the control board.

What should I do please

Already Tried:
Opened the contact console to check battery etc. I am sure the battery is ok as this was only replACED SOME 6 MONTHS AGO

I am unable to read your response since my computer security will not let me hit the button"View answer from expert" Normally by right clicking the mouse I can copy the hyperlink into the address bar but in this example I cannot. Are you able to send the answer in email form?

Hi and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX will be assisting you today. I have several years of Professional Training and Hands On Experience under my belt and am dedicated to giving you the best Answer possible for your situation.

Here's how this works: We will go back and forth exchanging information about your problem until a proper diagnoses can be made. There is no extra charge for replying. In the rare case that your problem simply just can't be fixed, I will provide you with all of your options on how to move forward. Please remember that there isn't always a magic fix and that I am only compensated for my time helping you when you indicate that your satisfied with my efforts. Even after you've indicated that I've helped you, the question is never closed and I am available for follow up replies at anytime.

Manually short the front door connections to bypass the sensor and see if it still registers as not ready. If that doesn't work, Unplug both the AC Power and the battery for 30 seconds and plug it back in and see if it comes online. Usually it's just the sensor that goes bad on those that causes the problem. Let me know how it goes and please remember to indicate that I have helped you on this.

Sorry for the delay but I have a new version of security on the pc and it is not allowing me to click on the links. the powermax system is wireless. However i did remove the contact on the front door and removed the battery and replaced it after a minute, The led flashes 2 x quicly and a third time a little slower. It repeats this sequence and then stops. On opening the front door the led does not come on again. The message on the cotrol panel still reads "Not ready" and the diagnostic indicates "Front Door Open"

No problem. When you took the contact out, did you touch the two wires together and see if the message goes to Ready?

Customer replied 293 days and 8 hours ago.

I have removed the battery from the unit and put a wire across the 2 terminals. On reassembling the unit it flashes and when i have reinstalled it the led remains off despite opening the front door and closing it. The control board still is in the "Not ready " state.

Ok, keep the battery and AC Adapter intact. Inside the Panel Box you will see where the wire from the Door Sensor goes into the Main Board. Manually ground that wire so it fools the Main Board into thinking the door is shut. Have someone check to see if the Panel Display goes to "Ready". That will tell you if the Sensor in the Door needs to be replaced or if the wire became faulty. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Carl

The Powermax system I have is completely wireless hence there is no direct connection to the control panel. If i take off the cover to the door sensor it will probably register "tamper alarm"

Picture

Ah ok. Sounds like the Wireless Sensor isn't paired to the Control Panel anymore for some reason. Inside the cover should be a sync button that's used to register itself to the Panel. If you still have the manual, it will show you how to re-register it. If you dont, let me know the exact model number that you have and I'll try to look it up for you.

Customer replied 291 days and 23 hours ago.

the control board has 4 dip switches on it. It is powered by a Lithium CR2 battery. The contol board is a Visonic MCT-302.

Hopefully this is the model number! There is no sync button.

Ok, I'll look into it. Compare the Dip Switch settings with another one that you have and tell me what the 2 are.

Customer replied 291 days and 12 hours ago.

The inside cover of the contact module had a sticker with the functions for the Dip switches

Dip 1 On (Input/Reed switch is enabled)

Dip 2 Off (N. C.)

Dip 3 On (Restore Events reported)

Dip 4 Off (Alarm not repeated every 3 mins)

Both modules have identical dip switch settings

Thanks. I just verified that those are the correct default values for the swtiches. Go ahead and put the casing back on and open the door. Does the LED Light turn on to indicate that a tranmission is in progress? If so, the unit it fine and just needs to be re-enrolled into the system. Let me know the model number of the Main System that you have and I'll get you those instructions and walk you through it.

Customer replied 290 days and 23 hours ago.

Hi Carl

There is no obvious model number, the system is called Visonic PowerMax+ however the user guide is DE5467U if this helps.

On fitting the battery and replacing the cover the Led flashed. However the Led did not respond when the door was opened.

Thanks. I have the manual pulled up now. The good thing about this model is that it auto detects when the wireless sensor is fixed and auto clears the error. What has me concerned is that the sensor is not turning on showing that it's sending an open signal. Press and hold the Tamper Button while removing the battery and wait 5 minutes. Does the display on the keypad reads a inactivity error now?

Customer replied 290 days and 7 hours ago.

I have held the tamper spring down and removed the battery. An amber neon light appears on the control panel indicating "Trouble" and the display flashes "Not ready" alternating with "trouble".

I waited 5 mins and refitted the battery and the console cover. The amber LED went out and the display resorted to Not Ready. The red LED on the proximity console flashes when I am attaching the cover and then stops. On opening the door the LED remains off.

Ok so the sensor is talking to the Panel, but the magnetic switch isn't being activated. They rarely every go bad, but looks to be the issue here. Is the Magnet still attached and aligned as it's always been? We may need to look into getting a replacement sensor and enrolling it to the panel.

Customer replied 289 days and 23 hours ago.

Hi Carl

The magnet has not been moved so I think your suggestion that the sensor is requiring replacing. Do ypu have the model no if the sensor so i can try and purchase a replacement?

Hey, please dont hit the ratins "Helped a little". It leaves a negative mark on my ratings. They just started this new rating system and has been horrible for us.

I've located a new replacement for £23.50 here.

Hi Carl

I am sorry the ratings are very confusing and not helpful. Of course i am pleased with your help and standard of reply. The only step up from "helped a little" is "Got the job done" which clearly it isnt. as soon as I have enroled the new sensor I will hit "Great Service" Can you show your organisation this note as I clearly did not intend you to be penalised at all. Perhaps they will rectify the problem. Thanks for the lead I will be back in touch when i have the sensor.

Best Wishes

Yeah, they realized their wording was a mistake and are changing it this thursday. Hopefully they can remove the 3 from the thread. Keep me posted on this. I'm here everyday.
