I want to get rid of my telco landline and replace it with cellular. Any suggestions? I am only keeping the line for use by my alarm system.

HiThere are a number of options here:1. A GSM unit that will route alarm signals through a GSM unit as dialup to the monitoring station. Pros - No changes needed at Monitoring Centre (still full dialup) Cons - Mobile call charges apply2. A GSM unit that will route alarm signals through a GSM unit as an IP connection to the monitoring station. Pros - No mobile call charges Cons - You will need input on the implementation from your monitoring center as they will have to make changes at their end, they may need to supply the equipment as these systems can be proprietory3. An IP module that will route alarm signals through your router as IP to the Monitoring centre, Pros ane Cons as for 2 above but add a significant con of the system having to run through your router means if a power failure or failure of your router the monitoring will stop.My advice is to talk to your monitoring center, it should not cost more than $200 for the equipment to set this up...
