Customer Question

I have a craftsman wireless keyless entry pad model 53684 which only works sometimes. That is, sometimes I type in the code and it works. Other times I type in the code and it doesn't work. Any thoughts on how to rectify this spotty issue?

Tried to figure out why it works only some of the time.

Hi

 

This can occur for a number of reasons...

 

1. Keypad contacts have worn, you could try programming a different code, you can download your manual from here: http://c.shld.net/assets/own/53684e.pdf

Use numbers not previously used for the new code. If the keypad is now reliable you can either just keep the new code or clean the keypad contacts. If cleaning the contacts use isopropyl alcohol or CRC CO Contact cleaner, do not use any other cleaner in there as it can leave a residue.

 

2. Problem with the door,mechanism, the code may be working but the door may be intermittent, Is the remote working reliabily?

 

3 The unit has another internal fault, possibly water may have got inside the unit.
