Customer Question

My smoke alarm keeps chirping. I removed the battery but it stills chirps. I have not replaced battery yet and will pick up sometime this week. We have other smoke alarms so I am not concerned about disabling this one for right now.

Do you have more questions?

Customer: replied 20 days ago.
I disconnected the alarm. Why was it chirping. It continued to chirp all night even after being unplugged. Is it defective of just needs a battery? FIREX i4618A.
Expert:  Rick replied 20 days ago.

It needs a battery. It is odd that the chirping continued for that long.

Is it necessary to hook it back up electrically? I dont understand the purpose if it is not going to work when the battery is no good.
Expert:  Rick replied 19 days ago.

All new detectors have battery back up in case you lose power. It still works it just makes that annoying beep.
