Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your issue. First I’ll need some more info so I have a more complete picture of you situation.
What do you have for heating equipment? a furnace? brand and model number please
OK, turn the power off to the furnace then connect the thermostat leads on R & W terminals together and turn the power back on. Does the furnace respond/fire up?
Well you need to do this to rule the thermostat in or out as the problem. If you need a new thermostat and want to replace it yourself you'll have to get the right sized screwdriver anyway.
