What is the minimum requirement for wood flooring on my exterior lanai deck?
Also what is the minimum distance for vertical supports on center?

"All decking material shall be composed of dimension lumber (2" nominal thickness) or span rated decking in accordance with the

American Lumber Standard Committee... Decking not meeting these

requirements may be substituted when the product has been approved

by the authority having jurisdiction."

Vertical supports spaced 6' OC. This is actually a rule of thumb. The code requires a railing support a 200 pound lateral load. So you can deviat from the 6' if you can prove the 200 pound load requirement (if the inspector calls you on it).

5/4" decking is generally considered the standard and meets the above requirements. Some exotic species can also comply at a thinner dimension but that would require local approval.
