I have an older (manual copyright 1962) Craftsman 10" Radial

Customer Question

I have an older (manual copyright 1962) Craftsman 10" Radial Arm Saw. The arm won't lock into place after a 'left/right' swing. Haven't been able to figure out how to engage the locking mechanism. Any suggestions?

The handle on top of the arm controls the lock. When you pull it back you can move the arm . It sutomatically locks when you release the handle.

The parts rarely break but they do get stuck .

The spring mechanism is on the far end from the handle.
Removeing the indicator off the top of the arm support may give you enough access to spray some WD 40 into the nechanism. If that does not work you will have to remove the arm outer cover ( but not necessarily the arm) to check for stuck or broken parts.

Sonetimes spraying up under the arm at the support will loosen things up without taking anything apart

Your arm assembly should be similar to this one
