I need to make some stairs to a deck. The height of the deck

This answer was rated:

I need to make some stairs to a deck. The height of the deck is 4 ft. but when you come out from the deck there is a slop in the ground. So when I come out to where the first step would be, at that point the height to the deck would be about 2 1/2 ft. So right at the deck my height is 4 ft, and 6ft away from the deck my height is like 2 1/2 ft. How do I make my stairs?
I will do some calculations and get right back
Figuring your measurements.
Meanwhile you could use a large framing square
and a carpenters ruler.
Can do without the square but it is a lot easier if you have one
Ill be right back .
Figuring your measurements now
Your run is a bit long and out of
range for regular stair construction.
Suggestions:

Fill in the ground in front if the deck
So it is level.

Build a ramp instead of stairs if you can't or
Is not practical to fill in.

Cover the extra distance by going one step down
From the deck. Have a level landing
Three feet wide then step down to grade as needed.

Extend the stair area of the deck six feet then build the steps down

Hope you will find this helpful.

the run doesn't have to be 6 ft. Can you just calculate for normal stairs and I will take care of the rest. Don't need to make it anymore work then we need to with a landing or filling with dirt.

No problem. I will get right. Back

Your runs will be 10 "
your rises. Will be 7 1/2 "

There will be three runs
There. Will be four. Rises

Don't forget to allow for the thickness of the tread. So it matches the top of the deck.

Hope it goes well. Let me know.
