My remotes will not open door, I have changed the batteries

This answer was rated:

My remotes will not open door, I have changed the batteries and tried to reprogram, still will not work, thanks for help

Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be helping you today.

Sorry to hear about your door opener.

If you have the lock feature on your wall button, verify that it is not engaged. The lock feature disables the remotes.

If you do not have the lock feature, please explain more of your symptoms, such as the things that do work, things that don't work, any noises? This way I can narrow down the possibilities.

If you are satisfied with this answer please leave me a positive rating at your convenience.

NOT SATISFIED, NO reply to 2nd question
Welcome. My name is XXXXX XXXXX would be glad to assist.

Some information would help, thanks.

1. Do the remotes have an indicator light that shows it is working?

2. Did they both stop at the same time?

3. What exact steps did you use in order to add them to the opener?

4. Do you see the antenna wire hanging down from the opener?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No indicator light, both remotes stopped at same time, followed the steps, antenna wire down, keyless and door control work, remotes will not get SRT to work

OK, lets do this.
Make note when adding the remote that you are standing at the opener and the light does exactly what is explained below.
If it does not act in the way explained in the steps, you have to do it once more or until it does.

Press and hold the "learn" button
on motor unit until the learn
indicator light goes out
(approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are
now erased.

Then add ONLY ONE remote:

1.Press and release the "learn"
button on the motor unit. The
learn indicator light will glow
steadily for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, press and
hold the button on the handheld
remote* that you wish to
operate your garage door.

3. Release the button when the
motor unit lights blink. It has
learned the code. If light bulbs
are not installed, two clicks will
be heard.

See if that does not get one remote working.

OK, can I program the 2nd remote the same way?, thanks

Did you do the first one yet?

If you were able to get the first done, then try to add the second one and see what happens.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

The second one will not program, also my keyless entry will not work, must have removed my 4 digit # XXXXX

Ok.
Did the first one stay in the memory? Or did trying to add the 2nd one, remove it ?
If the first one stayed, then the 2nd remote may be the problem. Sometimes it is very difficult to pinpoint issues with remotes , so trial and error is the only way.

To put the Keyless back in:

NOTE: This method requires two people if the
Keyless Entry is already mounted outside the garage.
• Enter a four digit personal
identification number (PIN) of
your choice on the keypad. Then
press and hold ENTER.

!. While holding the ENTER button,
press and hold the LIGHT button
on the Premium Control
Console.

3. Continue holding the ENTER
and LIGHT buttons while you
press the push bar on the
Premium Control Console (all
three buttons are held)

4. Release buttons when the motor
unit lights blink. It has learned
the code. If light bulbs are not
installed, two clicks will be heard.

If you can remove the Keyless and take inside to the opener:
Press and release the "learn"
button on motor unit. The learn
indicator light will glow steadily
for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, enter a four
digit personal identification
number (PIN) of your choice on
the keypad• Then press and
hold the ENTER button•

3. Release the button when the
motor unit lights blink. It has
learned the code. If light bulbs
are not installed, two clicks will
be heard•

Ok, not a problem.
Thanks

Keyless now works but my 2nd remote still will not program, I have to reprogram the 1st remote after I try the 2nd remote, thanks

Ok, thanks for the update.

Since the #1 remote programs and the Keyless now works along with it, it appears that the 2nd remote has an issue with the opener.

It should not knock the first remote out of the opener memory.

I would pick up another remote to use and discard the 2nd one since it is the problem at this point.
